Battle of the Brands showcases Chevrolet Pro Mods

(6-29-2016) ENNIS, TX – When the gates open for Saturday's Battle of the Brands, the pits will be awash with bowties of every shape size and description, all of them angling for a podium finish in the Super Chevy portion of the Fourth of July holiday spectacular presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts.

One would be hard pressed to find more bowties outside of an Orville Redenbacher look-alike contest, a Pee Wee Herman film festival or a Playboy Bunny alumni party. If it came with the iconic Chevy emblem, it likely will be represented in either the show or go portion of an even that also features the Fun Ford Series, a live music concert and the official City of Ennis fireworks show.

Adult admission is $10 until 3 p.m. when the track open to the public for the concert and fireworks. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by a ticketed... [Read More]

Big change for the Stanley & Weiss Caddy CTS-V Pro Mod

(6-29-2016) HAGERSTOWN, MD – After making the fix inside the converter that we did not know was broken in Dallas, it was off to Michigan for stop number four of the PDRA season. We went into the weekend feeling good about the Caddy's potential.

After getting things all ready to go, we opted for some testing on Thursday evening to see if the converter repair solved our issues. Two passes made and both them straight and true had us thinking we were headed in the right direction with a last hit of .922, 3.68/208 in 2700 feet of air and the motor all nice and rich and happy!

The first qualifier on Friday gave us up a 3.74 run that would be guaranteed to get our azzes handed to us first round. After some brainstorming with one of the PDRA's super tuners we were finally able to put our finger on Part Two of the drama that had... [Read More]

Quarterfinal finish for Dina Parise Racing at NMCA All American Nationals

(6-29-2016) INDIANAPOLIS, IN – ‘The heat is on!’ That was certainly the term for the NMCA All American Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway this past weekend. With temperatures well into the 90 degree range and a track temperature of 140 degrees, you could fry meatballs on the starting line! Temperature aside, the racing and track conditions were phenomenal!

This was the first of the three race deal for Dina Parise Racing and Aerospace Components. The team did not only represent Aerospace on the track, they were a fixture on the manufacturer’s midway as well. “What an exciting way to spend a race weekend!” Said Dina Parise “We were honored that Aerospace and NMCA wanted DPR as representatives on the midway. We had a blast with the fans! We are looking forward to doing it again in Joliet and Norwalk.”

For DPR this 2016... [Read More]

You can’t keep a good man down

(6-28-2016) PITTSBORO, NC – In March of this year PDRA Pro Extreme pilot, Terry Leggett, went in for a regular eye checkup. He walked away with a long list of upcoming appointments and treatment options. Leggett had melanoma eye cancer.

“Back in March I went for just a regular eye checkup and found out I had a melanoma tumor in my eye. The week during Rockingham I had a radioactive plaque put in my eye. It stayed in for five days and then they removed it. I really won’t know anything about the tumor for another five or six weeks. That’s when they’ll do all the resizing of the tumor to see if the radiation killed it or not. I’ll wind up having to have my thyroid removed, too. Probably sometime in July. There’s a strong enough possibility of cancer there that they want to remove it.”

In conversation with Leggett, none would be the wiser about his current... [Read More]

Third time’s the charm for Team Aruba

(6-28-2016) GRAND BEND, ON – The last three events have equated to three final rounds for Team Aruba. While the team came heartwrenchingly close to its first ever IHRA Pro Stock win in its last two outings, it was the IHRA Canadian Nationals and Team Aruba’s third trip to the final round that would give the team, led by team owner, Ven Eman, and Aruba.com Mustang pilot, Trevor Eman, their first victory. An elated Eman was thrilled to get the win for his hard working team and the country he represents:

“It's very relieving to win an IHRA race finally. We've been after a win for a long time, and we have gotten close several times, but when the win doesn't come, you feel as if your determination and patience is being tested. All the time traveling away from home and on the road to make it to a final round and not win, blow up engines, tear up a race car only makes... [Read More]

Farber rallies and qualifies well at Norwalk

(6-27-2016) NORWALK, OH – Pete Farber overcame transmission troubles from the previous week, qualified eleventh, and made it through to eliminations at the 10th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals event in Norwalk, Ohio on June 23-26 at Summit Motorsports Park.

A faulty sprag caused problems for Pete Farber while racing at the 16th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals event in Bristol, Tennessee, the weekend before, but the issues had been resolved and his supercharged CRC Automotive Brākleen ’69 Dodge Daytona was running better than ever for the Norwalk race.

In the first round of eliminations on Friday, Farber started out great with a strong 5.994 at 228.73 mph hit with a 0.987-second sixty-foot which ranked him tenth, but as he crossed the finish into the shut down area, his Daytona’s engine let go. Farber hustled... [Read More]
