(4-6-2009) MOORESVILLE, NC – The Outlaw Mad Dawgs season opener will be held at Mooresville Dragway this weekend. This race will be a special two day event on April 10th and 11th. These doorslammers cover the 1/8 mile in the low 4 second range at speeds approaching 180 mph.

On Good Friday there will be a bonus paid to the top four qualifiers. The number one qualifier will get $300.00, second will get $150.00 with the third and forth qualifiers picking an extra $100.00 each. Also, there is a $1,000 cash bonus to the Dawg who posts the first 3 second pass. The open tire rule is in effect for all the 2009 Outlaw Mad Dawgs races. In addition to the tire rule this year Lenco’s with Nitrous assisted engines up to 810 cubic inches will be welcomed, visit www.outlawmaddawgs.com for rules and weight.

Coming off a big win at Piedmont Dragway Chris Rini with Crew Chief Scott Cozalli will be going for two in a row. The New Yorkers have issued a challenge to all takers, wanting a Mad Dawg trophy and be the first Dawg to run in the three’s. Time will only tell because there will be plenty of heavy hitters there aiming for the ATI team. The runner-up from Piedmont Jason Harris will be on hand looking to be the top Dawg this week. After a runner-up finish last year local racer David "the Junkyard Dog" Lambert will be looking to finally take home a win at the Dirty Mo. Two time Mad Dawg winner We Fly Together Motorsports with wheelman Rocky Raynor with his Rick Hendrick Auto Dome '63 Corvette will be on hand looking to take home another Mad Dawg trophy. Mr. Extreme Darrin Hoyle in his new Camaro will be mixing it up with all the other Dawgs.

Ken Regenthal and his famed '63 Corvette known as the Carolina Hooker will again have the automatic in and will go for his first Mad Dawg win. Former Pro Modified Champion Todd Howard driving Jerry Williams’ Ford Probe will be there giving the Ford fans something to cheer about. MAD Dawg winner Joel Douglas will be looking for number two. "HAPPY" Gilmer Hinshaw won the first Mad Dawg last year and will be looking to repeat. Travis "the Carolina Kid" Harvey in Russ Farmer’s new Camaro dubbed the "Blue Streak" who ran an amazing 4.10 in a shake down run will try to continue the his strong performance and put the win light on.

Gene and Robbie Keziah have continued to improve in their Mauney built Corvette and have posted some big numbers and will be hunting down the win. "Diamond" Jack Gaddy in his '68 Camaro has shown that he will be a strong contender Saturday night. Mark "the Kid" Jones in his Oldsmobile with Charlie Buck horsepower under the hood was put on diet over the winter and is capable of putting up some good numbers. Andy "the Gunslinger" Beal in his Beal Racing Engines McAmis built Camaro will be there going head to head with all the other Dawgs. Also look for Greg Patillo Jr in super slick '56 Chevy and many, many more.

Also kids 16 and under will get in free with a paying adult.

The action kicks off Friday at the "Dawg House" with shake down runs from 2 to 5 with the first round of qualifying at 8:30. This all leads up to the big day. Saturday the gates open at 11:00 with the second round of qualifying at 3:30 and the final shot will at 6:00. On the final shot of qualifying the number 1 and 2 qualifiers will run each other for extra cash and bragging rights. Gate admission for Friday is $15.00 and Saturday is $15.00 but remember you can get a two pass for only $20.00. Bring the whole Family for an action packed, fun weekend.
