I'm sad to report that the Taylor Racing Corvette driven by Frankie "Mad Man" Taylor impacted the wall hard about an hour ago while testing at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, TX. There was extensive front end damage. Fortunately, Frankie is okay.

The Taylor's are headed back to the shop as I'm typing this. There they'll remove the engine and other components in preparation for a trip to Larry Jeffers Pro Cars shop in House Springs, MO. for a new front end.

I hate to see this happen to this great though underfunded team.

I have some other pics I will post tomorrow, where you can see the whole front off set with comparrison to the motor, and where the wish bone is broke. You can also see the rear wheels are turned offset to the frame. Not good.

Thanks for the photos Robert. This shows one detail of Frankie's car that many people may not be aware of. The rear section of the body can flip up like a funny car.

The frame work is done but the body won't be ready in time for the ADRL race. However Frankie will be racing next weekend. He won't be competing in Pro Extreme though. Stay tuned for more details. ;)

I was out at Houston Raceway Park today and guess who I ran into? Why it was Frankie, Paul and Wayne Taylor. I wonder why they're here? I know the Corvette isn't finished yet.

Let's see what's in the hauler. Why, it looks like a Camaro.

It's Wayne Long's River Rat Outlaw 10.5 car. Take a look at the leaner, meaner Frankie Taylor.

Frankie will be competing in XTF next weekend. And this looks like a fun ride!

Frankie made two laps today at Baytown and he pedalled it both times and the fastest he ran today was a 5.04 @ 158 MPH, but will git the setup right before the ADRL race!!!!

I'm excited about Frankie driving a REAL Outlaw 10.5 car. I remember the last time the Taylor brothers tried out a new class, Pro Street. The result was a new World record (211 mph) and dumbfounded competitors. They didn't know what was about to hit them! :D

We will try our best and plus the way that my dad tunes on racecars and the way ADRL preps the track, get these two to meet the rubber , I think we all could see some good numbers!!!!:):)

Well since DRO let the cat out of the bag I might as well go ahead and say that Frankie will indeed be pulling a double this weekend.

Sounds cool. You half to admire the way Frankie gest after it.

Side note, are you covering the race this weekend Nick?

Nick

I should have remembered....to much stress at work. Are the Taylors planning on running any of the George Howard stuff? We finally made the splurge and got one of those rear engine dragster things so we plan on getting half serious about bracket racing this year, his deals look pretty good.

Nick
03-04-2008, 07:57 PM
It has nothing to do with work.

George's races look like a good deal. Should be very successful. I'm not sure if Taylor Racing will make some of those or not.

Keep us up to date on how your season goes Dave. :)

George's deals do look mighty tempting for the southeastern racers, but look for issues as soon as there is a weak field... :D

Nick
03-04-2008, 08:05 PM
I'm thinking they will draw some strong fields. I'm just glad that someone is putting on a series for Southern Outlaws in the South. :)

PMKREW
03-04-2008, 08:09 PM
That wasn't said to knock the series but for information purposes only, I think I may be in attendance for at least one of those races this season if I am Lucky!

As Far As The George Howard Races Go............. I Think He Has A Great Idea For A Lot Southern Racers !!!!!!!!!!!!! He Has A Great Pay Out And I Expect For Him To Draw A Huge Crowd As He Always Does !!!!! So Look For That To Be A Big Deal This Year !

The Texas Speedsensor

What is the George Howard thing, and what is some of the rules??

PMKREW

This should answer some of your questions...

Well, with the ADRL charging so much for the name tags and for the racers and crew, GEORGE HAS A GOOD IDEA, " FROM WHAT I READ, HE ISNT CHARGING ANY OF THE PROMOD DRIVERS AND 3 CREW TO GET IN ANYTHING ! " so.................. again , great idea !

PMKREW
03-05-2008, 02:28 PM
That has been the standard in the southeast for Years, ONLY the big show's charge the professional racers to compete for their crowds...

I know a bunch of feathers were ruffled when they started charging the racer to race and giving away tickets...

I know the Dixie (Nitrous ) Promods is driver+2/3 free Promods are after all there as the "main event"
