Stott marches on at Maple Grove
(5-8-2012) COLUMBUS, NC – The LeeBoy team arrived in Maple Grove with butterflies in their stomachs. Maple Grove was the site of Quian’s big fire last year and they certainly didn’t want a repeat of that. Stott was confident that he had a strong race car and the team would have a safe and uneventful race.
Once again rain would shorten qualifying to 3 rounds. Q1 netted Stott a 3.74 at 201 mph. This was a solid run but Quain knew he had more. Q2 would prove him right and produce a 3.72 at 203 mph. With the rains coming they tuned it up a bit more for Q3 and ran a 3.69 at 204 mph. This run would land them in the 5th spot on the Pro Extreme ladder.
First round opponent was Alex Hossler. Quain chose the left lane and took the holeshot win with a 3.70 at 201. The car pushed out an intake gasket making a small mess and creating a bit of a thrash to get ready for the next round. Round 2 would pair Stott against Von Smith. Quain sensed a problem in the transmission on his burnout but staged the car and hoped it would hold together. The car basically died right off the launch. A busted bearing in the tranny had the car stuck in high gear and caused Stott the possible round win.
The LeeBoy team is already repairing the car and prepping it for the next event. Quain is excited to head out to the Gateway Drags in Madison, IL. and see how strong they can perform. He hopes to once again qualify solid in the field and vie for the win!
