Countdown to the Championship Top Five for 2012: PMRA driver Rocky Di Lecce Fifth Place
(10-15-2012) CAYUGA, ON Taking fifth place in the Pro Modified Racing Association Championship Point Award Series presented by Global Emissions Systems Inc. for 2012 is Rocky Di Lecce of Mississauga, Ontario.
With his 1968 Chevy Camaro-bodied Tim McAmis Race Car and a 526-cubic inch BAE supercharged hemi engine, Di Lecce performed well in his first year of competition, qualifying for all seven PMRA races.
Although he lost in first round action in the first two events, he made it to the semi-final during the Canadian Nitro Nationals at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park, and had a great showing during the IHRA MOPAR Nationals at Grand Bend, qualifying third and going rounds only to lose in the final to winner Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario.
Di Lecce also ran his best of the season with a 5.99-second, at over 230-mph pass.
In round five, the rain-delayed South Coast Community Weekend event held at Grand Bend, the Camaro driver qualified fourth but was out in the first round, and although he qualified number two for the next race, he could not make the elimination rounds.
For the PMRA season final, Di Lecce, who has raced since 1995, qualified number eight and was taken out in the first round.
Crew chief on the Metro Infrastructure Inc. machine is Angelo Aceto, and Emilio Aceto, Kevin Cooper, Tony Presto, Micheal Aceto and Nadia Di Lecce make up the rest of the crew. Along with Metro Infrastructure Inc., Midway Automotive helps with the teams sponsorship.
