Stott has successful outing at zMAX
(8-8-2012) COLUMBUS, NC – The LeeBoy crew was ready to race at zMAX for several reasons. Quain Stott was claiming it as his home track, he had lots of fans that would be in attendance, and LeeBoy would be entertaining several hundred people. The temps were hot and the action on the strip was even hotter.
First round of qualifying and Stott runs 3.769 at 202.12 m.p.h. to temporarily put him in the number 2 spot. This was quick for the hot temps and track temperature. Second round had Quain running a very out of shape 5.306/91.12 and resulted in a broken blower belt. The rain came in cancelling the activities until Saturday morning. Quain’s Q3 attempt on Saturday would be another out of shape pass. This caused Stott to lift and finish with a 4.667/106.85. Stott’s final attempt would end in severe tire shake and net a run of 7.932/70.41 putting Stott at 8th on the P/X ladder.
First round would pair Quain against Art McMahan. Both cars would lose traction with Stott winning the pedal fest advancing him to round 2. E2 would be Stott against Richard Holt with Quain leaving first and pulling away to the win at 3.813 200.71. E3 was Stott and Brandon Pesz became a very exciting round. Both cars were loose with Stott breaking another blower belt but winning to advance into the finals. Final round paired Stott with Tim Tindle. It was a good race with Tindle winning against Stott’s 3.990 et.
“Even though we are considering ourselves in test mode, we are very pleased that we made it to the finals” said an exuberant Stott. This was a huge morale booster for the LeeBoy team and they hope to continue the success in future events.
