Fire on the Hill Aug. 31 - Sept. 1 at The New Capitol Raceway
(8-23-2012) CROFTON, MD – Grab a bucket; get the hose; call the fire department… There’s a fire on the Hill and you’re invited to come kick back, relax and watch it burn. The New Capitol Raceway, along with J&S Performance Center and the Northeast Outlaw Pro-Mod Association, present Fire on the Hill August 31 and September 1.
Pro Mods are back in action on the quarter mile! That’s right- 1320 feet of laser leveled, Penhall ground, polished smooth racing surface is ready to rock, prepared by Capitol’s elite crew. This track is ready to hold the awesome power of some of the world’s fastest Pro Mods as they light the fires and smoke the tires in the biggest Pro Mod shootout in the nation’s capitol.
Over 20 cars will be going all out to qualify for the top 16 spots on Friday. Then in the main event Saturday evening September 1st, they will be firing up the track with blistering speeds over 200mph as all 16 gun for the $5000.00 payday. Come and feel the ground-shaking power of the Blowers, Nitrous and Turbo powered cars! Fords, Chevys and Mopars - we will have something for everyone and you will not want to miss this event.
Friday, August 31st gates will open at 4:30pm and the staging lanes opening at 5:00pm. Then let the party begin. We will have limited Test & Tune. We will take the first 50 cars through the gate only. Then we will have our Friday Night Invitational Race which features (25) 7.80 or faster dragsters and (25) 8.80 or faster door cars. You must pre-register for this race by emailing
info@capitolraceway.net to be put on the list. You will be running for $1000.00 payout. The car and driver will get in for free. Pro Mods will run a shake down pass and one qualifying round Friday evening.
As if Pro Mods and the Invitational aren’t enough, Friday night will also feature an eighth mile Champions Pro Stock Match Race as we pour alcohol on the Fire! It’s a battle of North vs. South, Chevy vs. Ford. The New Yorker, IHRA and ADRL World Champion John Montecalvo, will bring his Chevy Camaro to take on the Carolinian, Elijah Morton, in his Ford Mustang. Two of the heavy weights in ADRL Extreme Pro Stock will be battling it out for bragging rights. Come cheer on your favorite!
Saturday September 1st gates will open at 11:00am for another great day of racing action. Pro Mods will have two more rounds of qualifying with $1000.00 on the line for the number one qualifier. Super Pro and Modified will also be running. Sorry, folks, no Street and no Bikes that day. Later, we have the Outlaw Pontiac Drag Series back with us again. They put on a great show the last time they were here. Saturday’s Main Event will pit the fastest 16 Pro Mods going head to head in our ‘Fire on the Hill’ Pro Mod Shootout.
