Brogdon not planning on making any friends in last two NHRA races

(10-24-2012) TOMBALL, TX – It's been almost a month since Rodger Brogdon and his brand-new MAVTV Chevy Camaro have been at the race track, and the team is excited to get back out and play Pro Stock spoiler at this weekend's 12th annual Big O Tires NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"We want to go out there and be a thorn in somebody's side," Brogdon said. "Some folks might not like us much these next two races. Then again, depending on who we knock out, we might be somebody's new best friend depending on what side of the fence they are on.

"Ruining somebody's day is really the only thing you can do when you don't make the Countdown."

In the last two races he's run, Brogdon has ruined the days of Countdown contenders Jason Line and Jeg Coughlin Jr. by knocking them out earlier than expected.

Brogdon last ran at Dallas late last month and he said the team has been spending a lot of time getting ready to relocate Steve Kent Racing to the Houston area.

"We're still trying to get the new shop finished," Brogdon said. "Ideally we'd like to get it all moved down here after Thanksgiving. It's all in the works, but it's a lot of stuff to do."

The final two races for the MAVTV Camaro will be a living laboratory of sorts. Brogdon said the team will still try to get some round wins but also work with an eye toward 2013.

"We've got a few new things we want to take a look at during this race," Brogdon said. "But we're still wanting to qualify somewhere near the middle of the pack and win a few rounds too.

"Every run we go down the track we'll be probably trying something off the wall. And we might go test between races depending on what anybody else is doing."

Qualifying for the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals gets under way at noon PDT from The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The racing picks back up at 11 a.m. Saturday with two more rounds of qualifying. Sunday's eliminations get under way at 11 a.m. ESPN2 will broadcast the qualifying show at 1:30 a.m. EDT on Sunday with the eliminations show being broadcast starting at 4 p.m. Sunday.
