Brogdon bounced in Round 1 at The Strip

(10-28-2012) LAS VEGAS, NV – Rodger Brogdon knew his first-round contest at the Big O Tires NHRA Nationals was going to be an adventure even as he sat in his MAVTV Chevy Camaro before the race began.

"I was third in line behind Greg Anderson," Brogdon said. "I was watching his run and he shook like crazy right at the start in the lane I was going to race in. I thought to myself right there, 'This could be trouble for me.'"

Brogdon's sneaking suspicion proved to become fact against Ron Krisher when the two launched off the pad.

"Wouldn't you know it, I hit the gas and I start shaking all over the place," Brogdon said. "We just weren't able to recover from it."

Krisher sailed on through to a pass of 6.660 seconds at 206.92 mph, while Brogdon coasted to a lap of 14.030 seconds at 57.87 mph.

"Obviously we wanted a better pass than what we got," Brogdon said. "But it's especially disappointing because we had a new setup in the engine and we would have liked to see what it would have done."

Brogdon said the left lane was tough on everybody in the first round.

"These Pro Stock cars can't just make adjustments with a flick of the switch like the nitro cars can," he said. "It would be really nice to know how the lanes will be prepared before we get up there so we can make the adjustments ahead of time.

"The left lane got better as the session went on, but for those of us early on in the round it was so hard to figure out."

Brogdon said the team will pack up and head to the season finale in Southern California looking to improve their program.

"There's some more stuff we want to try before the end the year," Brogdon said. "We'll take the car to Pomona, get some good runs and hopefully win some rounds."

The NHRA Full Throttle Series season will end with the Auto Club NHRA Finals running Nov. 8-11 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, Calif.
