Just a 3 second blast of dry chemical put out that fire. It looked like they were using the old baking soda extinguishers. If the potential for fire exsists, have the right equipment on hand and teach the people how to use them.

I hate to be the one to say it , but if you have spent that much on a race car then why wont people spend another 500-600 on a damn fire system. Couldof stopped that before it ever started.

Not really Chris, Look at the frontal impact. The fire was up front and underneath and a fire suppressant system would have not worked on this one. I do agree that there should be one tho.

thats why i have the foam type fire system, it will snuff the fire out and the wind will not blow it off like halon if the front end gets torn off, it sticks for a minute then dissolves after a little while.

after seeing that fire at HMP, to hell with the shut down, I WILL NOT RACE THERE if they do not get the right fire support. if that was a fire in the drivers compartment and the driver trapped or knock out that would be horrible.

how bad did that destroy the engine or chassis from heat that long?

ther is NO excuse for a fire support team like that, the track is a excellant race facility so why a fire support like that?

sorry to rant, I just dont like fire, or se someones ride destroyed from ignorance.

There was no one in the ambulance either. They called a driver for it from outside the track. The ambulance was a show piece at the end of the track, that's why you do not see it on the move.

I totally agree Howard. What if that was a blown ALKY (10 Gal) that little water can isn't going to do shit! When Ken popped the blower and kicked the rod in the bird, it caught on fire, Ken used the fire system, but the birds front end was still on!

I was in Joker, pulling it around after Marty made a pass....
we heard billy wreck right behind us when we seen it it ws on fire me and marty beat the 'EMS'

Billy Hart got his belt off and opened the door, after that he was unconscience, Marty pulled him out the BLAZING car and we carried him off...it was burning the whole time..small explosions from the fuel....while the EMS was watching us they were spraying water NO WHERE near the flames...they were washing the rear end more than getting the fire...

THE EMS MAIN GUY IS THE >>ET. TICKET GUY...when we took off running another person in our crew asked who was ems...he responds"o CRAP im the EMS"

The Help was WORTHLESS!
