Once again the IHRA Texas Nationals and the NHRA Cajun SPORTSnationals are scheduled on the same weekend. Despite that I think there will be strong fields at both races.

I would like to do a Top Sportsman story/photo review of that weekend. I'm going to print up some racer data sheets and pass them out to T/S competitors. Right now I'm thinking of going to San Antonio on Friday and Belle Rose on Saturday. Maybe flip a coin to see where I go Sunday.

So who's going where that weekend?

Sure is hard to beat two national points events while only traveling once!!!

If I was lucky enough to go anywhere that weekend, it would definitely be San Antonio. It will be interesting to see the car count there for two reasons. First, it is the first race with a 32 car qualified field instead of the 48 - which was designed to get more cars attending. Secondly, it is 1/8 mile -

I'm still not sure how having a smaller field is going to increase car counts. I guess I need to take a remedial math course.

Less = More?

Apparently, the argument was that the IHRA started losing car counts when the field was moved to 48 - a lot of the quick guys didn't like it and therefore stopped going -

When the discussion started last year, many of them said they would return if it was made back to a 32 car qualified field. I guess time will tell -

There was some very hot n heavy posts on the subject back around Thanksgiving on your old site -

Interesting reading to say the least.

PS - Nick, let me know if there is room in the class - I'll sit next to you LOL

Tom, I'm afraid that my math skills may be so faulty that what appears to me to be a classroom with empty seats may actually indicate that there is no more room.
