Stanley-Weiss Racing find the 3 second zone at Mooresville
(3-23-2008) MOORESVILLE, NC – The Stanley-Weiss Racing team went off to Mooresville Dragway for some testing on Friday and our driver, my son John, had to go and get the Wildlife Federation on our case!
They always say you should draw on your friends and this is exactly what we did for this test session! These PSI screws make way more power and my forte has always been the roots style superchargers so I knew I needed help in this arena. Enter my long time friend Jeff Burnett of Composite Specialties in Brownsburg, IN, a long time PSI user!
Then take the mufflers off of the car, add zoomies, make it weigh 2700 lbs, add in Mike Janis’ Jan-Cen AJ Olds power and all of a sudden it's time for “The Car” help! Our friend and chassis guru Patrick Budd fit this bill to a tee. Patrick and his ProCar Peformance shop originally built our car 5 years ago and he was the next part of the equation. At his direction he and the crew made changes to the car that he thought would work. And work it did!
On the first run John was to click it off a bit after it went into 2nd gear so we could get some data for a baseline. As he went by the 330 cones and on down the track under power my blood pressure was going off the scale! John does not normally do that sort of thing! After the chutes came out, I asked him why he ran it so far. His answer was: "Dad, the throttle hung open"!
When we got the car back to the pits we quickly found out why the throttle had hung open, he had hit a bird down track!!! This poor bird must have been flying low because he struck him in the CFM carbon fiber front end! The poor lil birdie then went up and stuck himself in the butterflies of the injector! Carbon fiber nose, carbon fiber injector-one each, bird-zero!
And thats how you go 3.95 on your 1st shakedown run!
TOP THAT!!!
The Undertaker may be Maryland’s fastest ADRL car, but don’t turn around Tommy! “Da Orange Ho” is coming!
