The new Mustang looks like it's going to be a player. Ken Thomas booted it to a 3.98 on it's first pass with the new combo at Texas Raceway just moments ago.

And the Bad Hoss/Hell Bird runs a winning 3.96 in the first round of eliminations.

Other first round action included Gaylen Smith's 3.99 win over Michelle Wilson and Doug Riesterer's .015 light coupled with a 4.02 to get the win over Frankie Taylor's 3.93.

A 3.99 took care of a redlighting Doug Riesterer in the semi's.

Gaylen Smith lost power at the hit of the throttle, advancing Gene Hector to the final against Ken Thomas.
