Please keep Robbie Keziah in your thoughts and prayers. He was burned today when his car caught fire while attempting to start for the second round of eliminations. He was rushed to the hospital with facial burns.

Robbie isn't burned as bad as first thought. We'll try to bring you some more info.

In the meantime give a big shout out to Spyros Legakis who pulled Robbie out of the car!

Just spoke to Gene Keziah a few minutes ago. Robbie is now in the burn center in NC. The hospital in orangeburg needs to get a damn clue. Robbie was starting to get infection in some spots, eyes swollen shut. He looked worse to me than that 20 year old Dr thought at orangeburg hospital. They have scrubbed the burnt skin off his face and applied some special cream to help with scarring. This is all I know for now.
I had never met these folks until this race, we pitted next to them and we talked off & on all day. Very nice people for sure. They are father & son and best friends too. I felt so bad for Gene when he watched his son leave in the ambulance.....I had a panic attack for him.
I have never seen a car go up in flames so fast. Everybody did a good job at putting the fire out. The hero was this man named The Greek. He reached in there and grabbed him like superman. Later I drove Gene down to his pit so he could Thank him in person.
We go to these races to do the best we can and be safe at doing it. Ya never know what is going to happen next and you must be prepared for anything. Someone posted that a crew member should stand behind the car to kill the power when cranking if something does go wrong.......GOOD IDEA!!!
I left orangeburg with 2 new friends in the Keziahs and hope to see them out again soon for some more fellowship. Get well Robbie and I will see ya soon.

Did the Keziahs race a white and blue 3rd gen top sportsman camaro a few years ago. I cannot remember the names of the 2 gentlemen but Keziah sounds right and they were some extremely nice people when I met them at KDS a few years ago at a headsup race. Best wishes and get well soon.

I have raced with Gene and Robbie in the Top 8 doorslammers and let me tell you these guys are top notch. My Water pump went out on my car and I thought my day was done. I can't remember how it came about but they had a spear and they let me use it no questions asked.

I really hope Robbie is ok and you are in my thoughts and prayers...

I'm from Orangeburg and I can agree about the hospital, sometimes they are off track when it comes to difference emergencies....

To Buddy and Crew at Orangeburg, I know people gripe and complain about all the Safety stuff you have to enforce let this be a prime example of why we have to wear it. Think of how worse it could have been if he did not have the fire saftey gear.....

Once again Robbie get well soon...

Car can be replaced, but lives are Priceless......

Anthony....
