Gaylen Smith plans an assault on ADRL
(7-26-2010) MANSFIELD, TX – Gaylen Smith and the Texas Bounty Hunter team out of the LenMar Motorsports camp planned a full-on assault at the most recent ADRL events in Houston, TX to try and make their way into the top 8 so they can participate in the Speedtech Battle of the Belts at the ADRL/LenMar Motorsports World Finals in October.
“We haven’t had a competitive car in year’s past but this year we have stumbled onto an automatic combination that we have been running since the beginning of the season and it seems to be working”, Smith said.
“We have set and re-set our personal bests in ET and MPH every time we take the car out. We took delivery of the Tim McAmis built ’57 Chevy late last year just in time for “The Rock” and had a great outing there. We felt like we had an advantage for the March Houston rain-out show which was re-run July 23rd in the Texas heat and we went to the finals which put us #6 at the time.”
“We qualified for the inaugural Texas Drags which was run on July 24th but our night was cut short with a first round loss to Brian Daniels. I think that left us #8 in points. We also won first round in the Topeka, KS rain delayed race to be run out in St. Louis.”
“We needed to go rounds in order to accomplish our goal this year and we did just that. Now we have to be consistent at the upcoming ADRL events in order to STAY in the top 8.”
